     William Clapp was born c 1565 in Salcombe, Devon, England.3 He married Johan Channon on 11 Sep 1593 at Salcombe.3,4

He and Johan Channon lived at the time of Roger birth at Coomb Wood Farm in Salcombe. The farmhouse, a large, two-story thatch roofed cottage, is still standing. It is only a few hundred yards away from the chalk cliffs that fall 200 feet into the English Channel.3

William Clapp could be of Nicholas Clapp, Radigon Clapp and Barbara Clapp are designated granddaughters of William Clapp in the Clapp genealogy, but daughters of Nicholas Clapp in Mary & John, and in the webpage "Pane-Joyce Genealogy" Nicholas Clapp's son John in his will calls John Capen "cousin."2,3
