Herman ten Bruggencate was born on 22 Jul 1882 in Enschede (Veenstraat (wijk C)).1,3 He married Marie Elizabeth Oueil in 1901 in The Netherlands.4 He died on 6 Aug 1969 in Gibbons, Alberta,3,4, and was buried on 9 Aug 1969 in the Emanuel Anglican Cemetery in Gibbons.3,5
There was a obituary in the Edmonton Journal on 7 Aug 1969.3

Gerrit and Herman Bruggencate were among the founding members of the Cooperative Store "Eendracht" in Glanerbrug (Lonneker). This was part of the cotton laborers organization. Both were laboreres in the cotton industry.6 He and Marie Elizabeth Oueil emigrated in 1912 from Enschede to Canada7 His wife Etten Bruggencate and son Child Bruggencate are listed on the passengerlist of the "Hesperian," which departed from Hull on 17 Jan 1913. It was scheduled to go to St. Johns, NB, with a stop in Halifax.8
He was naturalized on 26 Feb 1920. with his child Gerrit.9
On 27 Feb 1915, he received a landgrant in the 35th Township in the 10th Range, West of the fourth Meridian in the Province of Alberta; the North-East Quarter of the Twenty-third Section of said Township.10
He and Marie Elizabeth Oueil lived bt 1912 - 1933 in Coronation, Alberta. Later they moved to Gibbons.4
