Dirk lived in the Throne / Coronation District, Alberta, Canada from 1920 until mid-1947 and was engaged in farming. From mid-1947 to mid-1959 he resided at Buckley Bay on Vancouver Island and at several locations in the Surrey, British Columbia, Canada municipal region. At Buckley Bay, he and Evelyn owned and operated a general store, post office and gas pumps and he also worked in a shingle mill at nearby Fanny Bay. In Surrey, he was engaged in the wholesale and retail grocery business. From mid-1959 he resided in the Morningside/Ponoka, Alberta, Canada area and was engaged in farming as well as being bulk fuel distribution agent. Af the end of his working life, he worked for a few years at the Ponoka Hospital/Institution. In retirement, he and my Mother resided in Ponkoka in the summer and in Phoenix, Arizona, USA in the winter.2 He was naturalized with his father John Bruggencate on 5 Jun 1936.9,10
